Yeats College Galway has this week announced the return of its much sought after Irish language college. Now in its sixth year, Coláiste Yeats offers two-week day courses for Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate, and primary school students.

A limited number of places remain on the Leaving and Junior Cert Easter revision classes which will be held at the Galway Study Centre during the Easter holidays. Leaving Cert courses start next Monday, April 14, and continue until Friday April 18, while Junior Cert courses commence from the following week, starting on Tuesday April 22. Teachers will concentrate on key topical areas in each subject and there will be constant emphasis on exam techniques. All classes will be backed up by comprehensive study and revision notes. A wide choice of subjects and times is on offer.

The Spanish Institute will be offering specialised Leaving and Junior Certificate exam preparation courses beginning on May 1. The five week course provides five hours of intensive study with a qualified, native Spanish teacher for just €50. Group sizes are limited to 10 students per class in order to ensure one-to-one attention for each student.

Transition year is the year after Junior Cert and before the beginning of the Leaving Cert cycle. It is different from typical school years in that it is not examined and therefore aims to develop a student’s maturity and to promote personal growth rather than purely focusing on academics. Transition year is not compulsory in most schools, but it is becoming more and more popular and in demand with many schools starting to offer TY programmes to its students.
