Last Saturday I was in Salthill for a few hours. It has been about two years since I was in Salthill last. I was amazed again at the grandeur of it; the wide Atlantic breaking in; the long and lovely promenade.

Presidential welcome as drawn out campaign ends for Halloween

The sense of relief is palpable this week as the October Bank Holiday rolls in and finally, the 2011 Irish presidential election campaign comes to a close. For better or worse we have now elected our new president and whatever political elections, by-elections, local or national arise in the next seven years, all going well, we won't have to worry about who will occupy the Áras for that period at least.

Three weeks to go and the campagin for President rolls on...

It would appear at this stage just three weeks before the Presidential election, that this race is anyones. (Well bar Dana's!).
