The Decade of Centenaries Programme was initiated in 2012 and complements the on-going programme of annual State commemorations. For 2022, Galway City Council has secured funding of €50,000 for an exciting programme of Decade of Centenaries events. Following an open call in January the City Council has approved a range OF project proposals from community led groups, the Local Heritage Office, the City Museum and local Libraries.

Gaillimh le Gaeilge relaunched the campaign #GRMAGaillimh this week with a video highlighting the city’s unique and special character attributed to Galway’s bilingual status. The archive of Conradh na Gaeilge, Ireland’s oldest Irish language organisation, has been launched by NUI Galway. The archive, which extends to 600,000 pages of documents, books, photos, and ephemera collected throughout the organisation’s nearly 130-year history, has been fully catalogued and is now available to researchers.
