Mayo county councillors are to seek their own legal advice on foot of legal advice obtained by Mayo County Council with regard to the discussion of planning matters at meetings of the local authority.

Sinn Fein councillor Gerry Murray suggested at a recent Claremorris Municipal District meeting that people who were caught dumping rubbish from their cars be hit with penalty points on their driving licence along with fines for dumping.
