The O’Shaughnessy Bridge which was constructed as part of an initiative to promote walking and cycling in the city was officially launched recently by new Mayor of Galway city, Cllr Terry O’Flaherty, along with Keith Warnock, the vice-president for capital projects at NUI Galway.

Sinn Féin councillor Thérèse Ruane has welcomed new proposals by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) to make cycle safety training a part of the school curriculum for seven and eight year olds in primary schools accross the State. Western Lakes Cycling Club’s family fun cycle is happening on Sunday, June 17. Sign on at Cycling Centre, Kilmaine Rd, Ballinrobe at 11am, leaving the Cornmarket at 12pm.
