Four Unislim members from Mayo celebrated achieving their amazing weight loss at this year's 44th Unislimmer of the Year Awards in Dublin on Wednesday last week. They competed against 10 other finalists (eight female and two male) hailing from across Ireland for the coveted title of Unislimmer of the Year 2016.

Mayo GAA have lined up a series of fundraising events in the lead up to and after next Sunday's All Ireland senior football final in Croke Park. After the final the official Mayo GAA team banquet will take place in Citywest hotel on Sunday evening September 18. Tables of ten cost €800 or tickets can be purchased individually for €80. The Mayo senior footballers are ready to go for their All Ireland final meeting with Dublin in a fortnight's time. At the county's press briefing ahead of the final on Wednesday night, manager Stephen Rochford fielded questions on the situation in the camp with Diarmuid O'Connor's fitness being the first question up, and the Crossmolina man replied saying: "Diarmuid is alive and well. We’ve trained three times since the Tipperary game and he’s been in all those sessions as has everyone else. We have 33 fit guys at this moment in time thank God."

Team training funds: The Mayo Association Galway, in conjunction with Cairde Mhaigh Eo, is holding a fundraising event in the Galway Greyhound track on Friday September 9. The event has been authorised by the executive of the Mayo County Board and the funds raised will go towards the Mayo team training funds.

Galway Golf Club and Ability West are celebrating a decade of the popular annual fundraising golf competition next month.
