Mayo households are recycling 34.1 per cent of household waste

Figures published in 2009 by the Environmental Protection Agency show that 15.2 per cent more household waste was recycled in Mayo in 2007 compared to the previous year. Households in the Mayo area recycled 18,545 tonnes of waste by using green bins, brown bins, home composting, bring banks and civic amenity centres.

Westmeath recycles almost a third of household waste - EPA

Figures just released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) show that households in Westmeath are now recycling 8,357 tonnes of their waste, which equates to just under 32 per cent of waste in the county.

Irish food company leads on green energy

A County Dublin food company has become the first in Ireland to set out to power 100 percent of its production using green energy. Country Crest, based in Lusk and owned by brothers, Michael and Gabriel Hoey, has invested €1.5 million in a state-of-the-art wind turbine which commenced powering the plant during a recent visit by Deputy John Gormley, Minister for the Environment.

Brown bin it says McAllister
