Children rally around Santa’s novel appeal

There has been a huge response in the south Mayo/north Galway region to a special appeal issued by Santa Claus, in advance of next Sunday evening’s Christmas lights switch-on in Ballinrobe.

HSE Mayo staff launch Bronntanas Christmas project

HSE West’s primary community and continuing care staff in Mayo have launched the Bronntanas Christmas project for the fifth year running. Bronntanas is a group of HSE staff in Mayo, their families and friends and volunteers from various organisations, who come together in the weeks before Christmas to organise the giving of presents anonymously to children in families who are under financial strain. This is carried out under the guidance of the Childcare Department in Mayo HSE PCCC.

‘Tis the season to be jolly at the museum

The first ever Christmas open day takes place at the museum on Saturday December 13 from 11am to 5pm. No Christmas fair would be complete without a visit to see Santa. Admission is just €2 per child and every child receives a special gift. Santa and his elves will be at the museum from 12pm to 1.30pm and from 2.30 pm to 4.30pm. Please note tickets must be purchased from the museum reception and are available from 11am on Saturday December 13. Make sure you get your tickets so all our younger visitors get to see the man in the red suit with the big white beard. Santa’s grotto will be in the museum galleries.
