Free carers’ day in Mayo

Due to the success of last year’s event and given the current economic climate whereby carers are experiencing cuts to their services, The Carers Association and The Mayo Volunteer Centre are organising a day for carers entitled: “Appreciating Mayo’s Hidden Treasures: Family Carers”.

Minding Yourself – information sessions for carers

The Carers Association will be hosting a series of talks during October in Ostán Óilean Acla, Achill, and Tourmakeady Hall. The focus of the evenings will be on stressing to carers the importance of looking after their own health. The series, entitled - Caring for Yourself: The Importance of Self-Care To Your Caring Role, will provide carers with information regarding their physical and mental health, guidance on looking after yourself while dealing with dementia, nutrition tips, keeping yourself informed on carers’ rights, entitlements, and changes to social policy that may affect carers.

Castlebar trialogue meeting

Trialogue is an open forum for discussion on mental health issues. Users of the mental health services, carers, health care professionals, their friends, and everyone in the community are welcome. A Trialogue group is a neutral space where communities can gather to develop their understanding of mental health issues, the challenges of maintaining mental health, and to transform thinking on developing better services and healthy communities. The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm in the Parish Centre, Castlebar, opposite the entrance to the church carpark.
