A group of local business people are getting their beards shaved in aid of Cancer Care West and Aids partnership with Africa.

Now in its 14th year, the Frances Thornton Memorial Galway Bay Swim in aid of Cancer Care West returns to the waters of Galway Bay this Saturday. And I will be one of the swimmers taking part.

The selection night for Miss Galway will run this Friday evening. DNA Nightclub is the main sponsor for this year’s contest and look forward to supporting this year’s Miss Galway throughout her reigning year. The winner of the Miss Galway contest will be signed with Catwalk Models and sponsored by Sarah Mason Professional and Educo Gym to get her prepared for the Miss Ireland pageant at the end of the Summer. The charity sponsor which Miss Galway will support throughout 2019/20 is Cancer Care West.

The inaugural Run West Ballyhaunis 10 mile run takes place on Bank Holiday Monday June 3 at 11am, the event is hosted by the Ballyhaunis Meet and Train team led by Martin Fitzmaurice.

Seán Keane and the Mayo Concert Orchestra will perform a concert in aid of the Regina's fight for life campaign in The Claremorris Town Hall Theatre on Easter Sunday, April 21. All proceeds will go directly toward Regina's Duffy's on-going Cancer treatment fund.

On Sunday April 14 some of Ireland's most powerful athletes will descend on the city of Galway.
