People struggling with bills and debt and in search of help to right their personal finances are waiting more than three months for an appointment at the Mayo South office of MABS - the Money Advice and Budgeting Service.

People struggling with debt are waiting over three months for an appointment at the MABS - Money Advice and Budgeting Service - Mayo South office, according to new figures.

The Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) in south Mayo has seen demand for its service double in the period 2007 to 2010. As a result of this increased demand the service has had to recruit additional staff and move to a larger location in Castlebar.

A money advisor from the North Mayo Money Advice and Budgeting Service will be in attendance in the Citizens Information Centre, Belmullet, on Thursday January 22 from 10.30am to 1pm.
