St Gerald’s College, Castlebar booked their place in this years Connacht Colleges Senior A Football Championship semi-final with a hard fought four point win over their north Mayo opponents in the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence on Thursday lunch-time.

A call was made at yesterday’s Castlebar Municipal District Meeting to extended the proposed new sewerage scheme to Breaffy for an extra 500 metres from its proposed end point.

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, announced on Wednesday that the IDA will bring on stream an advanced technology building in Castlebar this year, which will be located at the Castlebar Technology Park on the Breaffy Road. Athletes from all over Mayo will be honoured for their contribution to athletics during the past year. Certificates or awards will be presented to all athletes who won national and International medals in 2014. On the night some 130 awards will be presented.

Irish cycling hero Sean Kelly was on hand this week to launch the Saddle Up for Epilepsy Cycle in Breaffy House. The charity cycle will take place on Saturday February 14 departing from the Breaffy Sports Arena and it offers three different lengths of cycle routes — 40km, 80km, and 120km.
