Street Feast has confirmed that more than 850 street feast parties will take place on the weekend of June 12, with some 50 parties being organised in Galway.

The auction room in the Harbour Hotel, Galway, was packed to capacity with more than 700 people in attendance at the morning and afternoon sessions.

There is a very interesting map of “St Stephen’s Island” in Mary Naughten’s excellent little history of the Parish of St Francis in Woodquay. In 1823 it was objected that there were several suitable sites for a new courthouse ‘immediately in the town’ and that it was ’quite idle’ to lay foundations in Newtownsmith, or in any part of the suburb.
