Buyers chase value at O’Donnellan & Joyce auction

O’Donnellan & Joyce held the biggest property auction in the west so far this year when seven properties went up for sale last Friday in a packed auction room with standing room only. There was tremendous interest in all of the properties with five of the properties selling in less than one hour and the remaining two under active negotiation.

After six weeks of auction progression O’Donnellan & Joyce anticipates a large crowd at the Victoria Hotel tomorrow for the first of its spring auctions. “Over the past number of weeks we have had open viewing twice a week on all eight properties and facilitated private viewings also,” said Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce. “Open viewings were busy for the duration of the process and there were many requests from clients interested in putting offers on some properties. As a result of this 11 The Green was sold prior to auction, contracts have been signed, and its owners are very happy that a very good price was achieved.”

Salthill gem a winner at auction

The Imperial Hotel, Eyre Square, was a flurry of activity last Friday for the spring auction held by Property Partners Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard. The first floor lounge, overlooking a sun kissed Eyre Square, was alive with the vigour of the spring season and in keeping with the glorious sunshine, the auction team were full of enthusiasm for the day’s auctions. Learning from the experiences of the last auction held by Property Partners Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard in November, bidders arrived early and the room filled up briskly so that by 3pm when auctioneer James Heaslip MIPAV took to the floor only standing room remained.

The Victoria Hotel was bursting at the seams as an unprecedented crowd arrived at the hotel all eager to witness the first O’Donnellan & Joyce auction of the season. The excitement was palpable among the crowd and at one stage there was a bit of an anxious moment when bidders were afraid their bids would be missed because the crowd was so large.

For auction on the day will be four wonderful properties from various locations in the city. Two are executor sales and will be sold and two of them are not, but the owners are also anxious to sell. O’Donnellan & Joyce are synonymous with auctions in Galway and the company can safely brag that in 2010 80 per cent of all property that went into the auction room was sold, and a good percentage of the remainder sold shortly after.
