The Mayo League has donated the proceeds of its inaugural charity shield match which took place at the start of this season in Milebush Park, Castlebar. The shield was named in honour of the late Liam McEntee and was competed for by Ballina Town (Elverys Super league champions) and Manulla (Chadwicks Cup Holders). Ballina Town became the first winners on a score line of 2-1.

Castlebar Lions Club will host its annual seafood night on Friday October 9 in the Fáilte Suite Welcome Inn Hotel, at 8.30pm, with this year’s proceeds going towards Mayo Cancer Support, Rock Rose House.

The Mayo Cancer Support Association will receive a cheque for over €2,000 which was raised through Aramark Ireland’s inaugural Charity Cupcake Campaign. The campaign raised over €8,500 in total for Aramark’s Charitable fund which comprises Action Breast Cancer, the Jack and Jill Foundation, the Mayo Cancer Support Association and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
