To celebrate the very successful opening of Mary’s Fish Shop there will be a party on Holy Thursday. Go along and see some great chefs cooking fish to perfection and also demonstrating how to make a great chowder. Everyone loves chowder and it is pretty easy to make, however it really helps to see it done in front of you or to be able to ask a chef for advice.
Put a note in your calendar to go along on Holy Thursday April 17 any time from 12 noon. There will be a tent in the grounds of Fyffes Total produce building in Ballybrit, just in front of Mary’s Fish Shop. Sample Mary’s fish cakes, barbecued fresh mackerel, chowder, and some more surprises. Mary is also selling the best organic mixed salad in Connacht, Stephen Goulds salads from Headford. To prepare a great dish in five minutes, grill or fry a piece of your favourite fish, add some dressing to Stephen Goulds salad, and serve, that’s it.
Mary has been stunned at how so many of her old friends and previous customers have become regular customers in the short time she has been open to the public. Needless to say she is extremely grateful to all and wants to say a big thank you.
If you listen to any of the world’s top chefs talk about fish cookery it is always the same — the best fish cookery is the simplest, super fresh fish cooked as quickly and as simply as possible. Mary has the fresh fish and the rest is up to you, and on Holy Thursday with the help of chefs Padraic from the G Counter, John and Iggy from Creole, Maria from Slow Food, Conor from Glenlo Abbey, Mark from Artisian, Federica from Ill Vicolo, Michael from Oscars, Pauline from the G Hotel, Massimo and Richie from La Rouge, Julian from the Loughrea Hotel, Terry from The Dail, Eoin from Tom Sheridans, Roberto from Ill Folletto, and Johnny and Patrick from the Salthill Hotel, will show you how easy it is to cook fish.
