LIZ AND Yvonne Kane and Johnny Óg Connolly will be among the Galway trad titans who will be gathering in Monroe's Live for a traditional music concert this Sunday from 4pm.
The concert, which will also feature Alec Finn's De Dannan, Colm Gannon, John Blake, Ronan Browne, the Giblin family, Padraic Keane, the McCarthy family, Kelly Gannon, the Keane family, John and Maggie Carty, Seosamh Ó Neactain, Padraig O'Dubhghaill, and others, is to raise funds for the Seachtain Ceoil Chois Fharraige summer school.
Seachtain Ceoil Chois Fharraige is the brainchild of Colm and Kelly Gannon who run Gannon’s Music Shop in An Spidéal. They launched their first summer school last year. The school involves sessions and classes with leading musicians, singers, and dancers, and this year it takes place from August 3 to 9 with Derek Hickey, Padraig Keane, John Blake, and John Carty confirmed to take part. All money raised from the Monroe's concert will be donated to the school. Musicians are also welcome to play a few sets at Monroe’s Live on the day.
