AN EXHIBITION, featuring a variety of artistic responses to an excerpt from Emilie Pine's Notes To Self - the 2018 An Post Irish Book Awards Book of the Year winner - takes place in Just Art It.
Notes To Self, published by Tramp Press, is a book of essays by Emilie Pine, associate professor of modern drama at University College Dublin. The collection also won the IACI Butler Literary Award.
Engage Art Studios asked Emile to give its artists a short excerpt from the book, and the result is Permission, which officially opens on Saturday April 6 at 7pm in Just Art It, Lower Dominick Street. On Saturday April 13 at 7.30pm, Emilie Pine will meet with Engage artists for an informal public discussion on the works in the exhibition.
The exhibition features new work by Red Burke, Maeve Curtis, Simon Daly, Dee Deegan, Maries Diez, Noelle Gallagher, Nicola Gunwhy, Nuala Hiney, Jojo Hynes, Seamus Keane, Paul Malone, Eimear Jean McCormack, Stephanie McLaughlin, Elena Moreno, Ilaria Pellizzaro, Jane Queally, Avi Rathnayake, Vicky Smith, and Ruby Wallis.
The events are part of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature. Permission runs until April 26. Admission is free and all are welcome. See www.cuirt.ie and www.engageartstudios.com
