The 19th Galway Science and Technology Festival welcomed another record breaking 20,000 visitors to its annual final day Exhibition at NUI Galway last Sunday, and honoured several people on the day with major science awards. The two-week Festival culminated in the final day Exhibition and also brought 180 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) shows and workshops to 35,000 primary and secondary school students across Galway City and County.

Robinson Centre tale takes a new turn

The ambitious plans for the Mary Robinson Centre at her childhood home in Ballina looks to have hit another roadblock this week. On Monday, the Victoria House Foundation issued a statement, confirming that the former president would be gifting her archive to NUIG rather than to Mayo County Council which according to the foundation “Storage of the archive in Galway will obviate the need to duplicate expensive archival facilities in Ballina.”
