THE GALWAY Film Fleadh celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and to mark the occasion - and as a way of combating the gloom of the recession - this year’s theme is ‘uplifting films’.

THE GALWAY Film Fleadh is celebrating its 21st birthday this year and from Tuesday July 7 to Sunday 12, it will host world premieres, special tributes, Irish and international features, documentaries and shorts, with a prestigious array of actors, directors, and filmmakers in attendance.

Manuals in the early part of the century often were often full of budgets, timetables, and how to run a home with live in staff.

It is a long time since Castlebar pantomime performed a show based on a nursery rhyme, the last one being Mother Hubbard in 1999, Mother Goose of 1993 is only associated with nursery rhymes, which then leaves Ole King Cole in 1990, making a Castlebar pantomime based around a nursery rhyme a bit of rarity and in the case of Sing A Song Of Sixpence a rather brilliant show!

The scripts have been put down, the costumes are ready, the dance moves are polished up and the Deenside Players are about to put their latest production on stage. Introducing Robinhood Meets Frankenstein as this year’s Castlecomer Pantomime.
