A county councillor has called on the Health Services Executive to reinstate the patient transport service, removed while budgetary reviews take place, as its absence has caused considerable distress to dialysis patients.

Contingency plans to allow the existing renal dialysis unit at Mayo General Hospital be upgraded are being examined at present according to Councillor Annie May Reape who tabled a question in relation to the issue at last week’s Regional Health Forum.
