Caruso and the Quake chronicles legendary Italian tenor Enrico Caruso’s escape from the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906, combining beautiful storytelling with live opera from Puccini and Rossini. The morning after Caruso’s sell out performance of Carmen at the San Francisco Opera House in 1906, the San Francisco earthquake struck. Mexican tenor and stage actor Ignacio Jarquin recreates Caruso’s experiences in the ensuing chaos as he attempts to make his way out of the decimated city.

As part of Music Network’s April classic tour, virtuoso guitarist Xuefei Yang and cellist Natalie Clein will be performing in the Áras Inis Gluaire centre in Belmullet on Thursday, April 29 at 8.30pm. Natalie Clein’s remarkable talent first came to the world’s attention when, aged 16, she won the BBC’s Young Musician of the Year award. Since then she has won a classical Brit award and performed with many of the world’s finest orchestras and chamber music ensembles.

Rising star, petite and quirky Vyvienne Long first achieved celebrity as a cellist in collaboration with singer-songwriter Damien Rice, producing the soaring melodies and distinctive sound associated with his albums O and 9. International tours followed during which she instantly charmed fans with her unique cello song and quirky take on the White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’. She soon began writing her own vocal material and formed a core band which typically includes three cellos, piano, drums and bass. Vyvienne released her EP Birdtalk in 06.
