Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, announced during an event at Western Care Castlebar this week, that he has allocated €223,579.50 in funding to six community care organisations in Mayo, which provide Mobility and Cancer Care transport to individuals in the community.

There was great excitement and fun at Western Care’s St. Rita’s residential home, Claremorris, recently, when the six members of the Tuam-based super group, The Saw Doctors, visited to launch the 10th annual Kathleen Conneely Charity Walk on Clare Island for Western Care Association local services. The group’s evocative song, Clare Island, penned by Leo Moran and Dave Carlton, is an enduring anthem that evokes the idyllic beauty and scenery of Clew Bay and Clare Island and the peace experienced by all visitors to the area.

Western Care Association is delighted to be hosting Michael English and his band for an intimate evening of music and song in the beautiful St Patrick’s Church, Ballyhaunis this evening. Michael is currently going from strength to strength on the Irish country music scene, for both his dances and concerts and is one of the most popular artists at the moment.

Local chef Kevin Stirzaker and his team at Dining Room on Bridge Street, Castlebar, are holding a charity event to benefit the Enable Ireland Safari Club for children with disabilities. Popular publican Mick Byrnes of Byrnes’ pub, will be guest chef for the night under the watchful eye of Kevin and his team. Up to 70 guests will be wined and dined with a specially selected menu over two dinner sittings on Tuesday, at 6.30pm and 9.00pm. Local food and beverage suppliers are also supporting the night.
