Tyrone Guthrie Regional Bursary Scheme recipients announced

Every year Mayo County Council offers two bursary awards to artists born or living in Mayo, to enable them to spend two weeks at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig in Monaghan. Each bursary covers the costs for a two-week period, plus the use of a studio if relevant. There are a variety of artist work spaces available including studios, a music room for composers and musicians, a multi-media room and a large rehearsal and performance space.

Spectacular mosaic to be unveiled at Knock on Sunday

One of the biggest mosaics of its kind in Europe is to be unveiled during the 12 noon Mass at Our Lady’s Basilica at Knock Shrine this Sunday (February 28). The impressive artwork, measuring 14 metres x 14 metres, is made up of more than 1.5 million individual pieces of mosaic and depicts in great detail the Apparition at Knock in 1879, as described by 15 ordinary villagers who witnessed the extraordinary vision.
