RTÉ WILL broadcast the Wexford Festival Opera's sold-out production of Antonio Vivaldi's Dorilla In Tempe to Galway's Pálás on Saturday November 2 at 8pm - the first time an Irish-produced opera will be broadcast live in cinema.

Coláiste Éinde was founded very shortly after the State itself was founded. The aim was to educate boys through the medium of Irish so that they would go on to St Patrick’s teacher training college, get secure employment for life, and in turn, teach a new generation of boys through Irish. It started life in Furbo House, an old house belonging to the Blake family. A domestic problem arose within the family who owned the house, so the school’s stay there was brief and they had to leave at Christmas 1930. The college was transferred to Talbot House in Talbot Street, Dublin, the following month.

The Director-General of RTÉ, Dee Forbes, and the Chief Executive of Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture, Hannah Kiely, today signed an agreement that will see the national public service media organisation act as the lead media partner for Galway 2020, in a special association that will promote Galway’s historic year as the European Capital of Culture.

The village of Knock is preparing for an influx of up to 120,000 to 150,000 people next week during the National Novena to Our Lady of Knock - which will run from Monday, August 14, to Wednesday, August 23. The annual novena at the Marian Shrine is one of the biggest events to draw people into the county each year and this year is no different. This year is the 40th year of the National Novena to Our Lady of Knock, the original intention behind the Novena was to recognise the unique role that Knock has to play in the life of the Irish church. The theme of this year's pilgrimage is 'Living Life to the Full' and there will be a number of guest speakers, and daily workshops along with services taking place over the nine days of the novena. Ceremonies will take place at 3pm and 8.30pm and workshops at 12 noon and 6pm each day.
