324 hospital admissions for diabetic foot disease in the Kilkenny area have cost the HSE South €9.72 million.

A Corrandulla man who was recently diagnosed with diabetes is calling on the HSE West to provide a foot screening programme and check-up service for sufferers in the region. The condition affects one in 20 people.

Dr Caroline McIntosh, originally from Cramlington in Northumberland, has been appointed Head of Podiatry at NUI Galway and will manage the university’s School of Podiatry.
