Galway City Council has launched its forthcoming Park and Ride campaign aimed at significantly reducing car use in the run up to the busy Christmas period in Galway. This year its newly operational Galway Transportation Unit focused on an integrated approach involving the Department of Transport, Iarnród Éireann, An Taisce Green-Schools Programme, and Bus Éireann in an effort to curb car use in Galway by offering a number of cut price, ‘hassle free’ options of travelling to and from Galway other than by private car.

Park and Ride begins this week

This week will see the commencement of the Galway City Council’s annual park and ride scheme - with officials hopeful of a major reduction in traffic congestion this Christmas.

Monivea signs twinning charter

The village of Monivea is to twin with the picturesque village of Tremeven in the province of Brittany. On July 5, 23 people representing Monivea attended the first signing of the Twinning Charter to link Monivea and Tremeven. The document was signed by Jack Frost, representing Monivea Community Council, and Roger Colas, Mayor of Tremeven.
