Mullingar has been chosen as the fourth location in the Lakelands and Inlands region to host an open day, showcasing what is on offer in the area and is organised by Fáilte Ireland, Waterways Ireland, and Westmeath County Council.

This will be the first large Christmas event ever to be held in the town.The event will take place from 12 midday until 4.30pm on Sunday December 6. The town centre will be pedestrianised for the event to accommodate all of you who are looking for that extra special Christmas gift this year. The town’s retailers will be open from midday so no matter what you are looking for from high fashion to traditional crafts, Christmas in Mullingar 2009 is your one-stop shop this Christmas.

Cathaoirleach of Westmeath County Council, Cllr Fintan Cooney, used the occasion of the official switching on of the Christmas tree lights and the lunchtime Christmas concert on Tuesday December 8, to urge support for the poor and needy at home and abroad.

Fastnet Films is currently scouting for teenage and adult non-actors (ie no experience required) to act in their drama feature film The Other Side of Sleep. They are looking for adults from the Midlands from the age of 20 to 75. The two teenage age groups they are interested in are 14-16 year-old girls and 17-20 year old boys.
