Mayo League announces scholarship recipients

Earlier this week the Mayo League announced the five recipients of the 2011/2012 third level scholarships. This initiative which is a first for the Mayo League is something that it hopes to expand in the coming years. The five recipients were Gerry Cunningham (Westport United), John Hutton (Claremorris), Owen McNamara (Conn Rangers), Chris Rowland (Castlebar Celtic), and Gerry Sweeney (Bangor Hibs). The five players will be presented with a cheque for their first instalment of the grant and a specially designed certificate at Milebush Park on Saturday, January 28 at 6.30pm. The Mayo League also thanked all those who applied for the scholarship and Arcon Recruitment, Castlebar, which carried out the interviews on all applicants on behalf of the Mayo League.
