Stars of the future come to Mayo

Mayo is bracing itself for the influx of some of the most talented young football players in Europe next week when the the UEFA U16 Development Tournament takes place in venues across the county. The Republic of Ireland will take on Northern Ireland, Lithuania, and Denmark in the women's tournament, while in the men's tournament the Republic of Ireland will face off against Northern Ireland, Kosovo, and Denmark.

Mayo to receive €257k in sports funding — An Taoiseach

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, has welcomed news that Mayo will benefit from €257,076 in funding for Local Sports Partnerships this year. This investment will support the core work of the LSP Network here in Mayo including the delivery of national programmes, education and training initiatives, strategic development, community sports development officers, the Sports Inclusion Disability programme, and general participation programmes.

Fourteen pre-school services in Mayo received their Healthy Ireland status at an awards ceremony celebrating the second annual Healthy Ireland Smart Start Awards in Athlone Institute of Technology. The award recognises pre-schools across Ireland that have participated and achieved Healthy Ireland status. Mayo’s early childcare providers now have a cumulative 18 Smart Start Awards (including the four awards received in 2016).
