Mayo Man creates social innovation platform to change the nation

A social innovation process designed to tackle some of Ireland’s key challenges was launched this week by Ashoka Ireland, which is headed up by Paul O’Hara, originally from Castlebar, Co Mayo. The first platform of its kind in the world, Change Nation will commence in Dublin between March 22 and 24 and will be attended by 50 of the world’s leading social innovators who have conceived and implemented proven solutions in the areas of education, healthcare, the environment, economic development, inclusion, and civic participation.

Kenny named Mayo Person of the Year

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny was announced as the Muintir Mhaigh Eo Mayo Person of the Year yesterdat at a reception in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin. The Muintir Mhaigheo Dublin Association has been running since 1905 and the Mayo Person of the Year has been awarded to a number of notable Mayo sons and daughters, including former president Mary Robinson and former taoiseach Charles J Haughey. Last year’s winner was Castlebar hotelier Pat Jennings.

It would appear at this stage just three weeks before the Presidential election, that this race is anyones. (Well bar Dana's!).
