Professional job done in London

Mayo got in and got out of London as expected winning by 2-16 to 0-9 without setting the world on fire. I was fully sure they would cover the 15 point handicap, but when you have an injury list as long as your arm you have to be satisfied they got the job done. I, like most of you, had to be content with listening to the game on the radio which was an unusual experience for me, you could almost sense the carnival atmosphere at the Irish TV grounds in Ruislip.

Last Tuesday night most of the teachers who are involved in Extra-Curricular activities during the school year at The Jes on Sea Road in Galway city where we teach, went out for a bite to eat and a few beverages in An Pucán just off Eyre Square.

London job done, now it is back to home affairs

The Connacht championship is the most special one in the entire All Ireland championship, with every one of the province's home counties kickstarting their championship adventure on foreign soil in either London or New York twice in a five year cycle. Last weekend it was Mayo's turn to head east to London and while there was a football match to be played, it was as much a social event where old friends and new acquaintances soaked up the sunshine and enjoyed each other's company from early in the morning till well into the evening.

Delicious and delightful food at Dalgan Restaurant

image preview

Dalgan Restaurant/gastro Bar on the main street in Ballyhaunis, right beside the church, is the newest, hip, funky gastro bar in the county. This totally refurbished building rivals the best in London at the moment, and so does the menu. Beautifully finished, outside and in, the first thing we noticed was the modern bar, as you step inside. The restaurant is warm and inviting, candlelit tables, polished tile and wooden flooring, a nice mix of sofas and chairs with a modern clean blue and white theme.

London calls and Mayo will answer

The Mayo senior team travel to London tomorrow from Ireland West Airport for the start of their 2016 championship and kickstart their bid for an unprecedented six Nestor cups in a row. The 100/1 on Connacht champions will have little or no trouble in disposing of the exiles no matter what way we try to butter it up.
