Castlebar Rotary Club

Two Castlebar consultants will be travelling to Somalia in November to run specialist clinics to help and support local medical staff. Dr Meabh Ní Bhuinneain is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist. She has a lot of experience in Kenya and has been involved in building up existing health care structures in the Londiani region. Mr Paul O’Grady is a consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. He has previously worked in Vietnam, Middle East, and Kenya. Their key objective is to help provide sustainable relief through resourcing and training existing medical staff. The Rotary Club of Castlebar, of which Mr O'Grady is a member, will run a church gate collection on Saturday/Sunday September 17 and 18 supporting this worthwhile project.

Volunteers sought for Great Ethiopian Run

Operation Transformation star and renowned fundraiser Ronan Scully is undertaking the Great Ethiopian Run this November, and is looking for volunteers to join him. Scully has already signed up close to a dozen participants to run with him on the annual event, a 10km walking and running challenge through the heart of Addis Ababa on November 27.
