Ben & Jerry’s Climate Change College ambassador, Lesley Butler, from Mullingar, has just been announced this year’s recipient of The Outstanding Young Person Award from Junior Chamber International Ireland (JCI). Joining an illustrious list of recipients which includes Orsen Welles, Elvis Presley, and JFK, Lesley wins her award in the Environmental Responsibility category.

All sorts of goodies will be available during the 55th Galway International Oyster Festival, as the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Galway has teamed up with festival organisers to hold a special ‘More Than Oysters’ exhibition which will showcase the best of Galway.

JCI Galway’s 11th annual young entrepreneur competition is currently underway and nominations are invited for the 2009 Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. The closing date for application is next Monday October 12. The competition has been a significant accomplishment not only for JCI Galway, but also for the winner and the sponsors involved in the competition.

A night dedicated to local entrepreneurship will be hosted by the Junior Chamber Galway when Galway’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award is announced.

Work has commenced on the JCI Galway City and County Tourist Guide for 2010, which is celebrating its 43rd year, and is an ideal platform for businesses to reach the thousands of visitors to the west in the summer months.
