McCormack welcomes weed control plans for local lakes
Councillor Eugene McCormack has welcomed the commitment by council management to implement the report in relation to the control of weed growth on Lough Lannagh and Billberry Lough. The commitment came following a motion tabled by Cllr McCormack at last Thursday’s Castlebar Town Council meeting requesting that the report be implemented.

Mayo murder case listed for trial
The case of Ceyln Eadon (20), of Islandeady, Co Mayo, who is charged with the murder of his mother, Noirin Kelly (46), on March 9, 2011, which was listed for trial at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Galway this week, did not proceed this week.
Lough Lannagh to Islandeady trail identified
A three-metre wide trail joining the Lough Lannagh walk in Castlebar with Islandeady has been identified. The proposal to develop this linear trail, which will eventually connect with the Westport national cycle network, has been welcomed by Labour councillor Harry Barrett.
