A “to let” advertisement in a Galway newspaper in April 1860 promoted the fact that Seamount Villa contained a parlour, drawing room, six bedrooms, a kitchen, water closet, a coach house with some stabling, and a small garden. The grounds were nicely laid out and had an approach to the sea. George Fallon who lived at ‘The Baths’, Salthill, would show the place to prospective customers.

Huge crowds turned out for this year’s Christmas Day Swim at Blackrock, Salthill, in aid of COPEGalway’s Services for people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and recipients of services for older people in Galway. An estimated 8-10,000 people thronged the steps of Blackrock in what has become an annual family tradition for those living in and returning to Galway for Christmas.

The annual COPE Galway Christmas Day Swim is 28 years in existence this year and the local charity is calling on all in Galway on the day to don the togs and the t-shirt and hop into the sea at Blackrock, Salthill to raise much needed funds for COPE Galway services.
