Walking the Line is the title of an important book written by Kevin Brophy which describes his childhood growing up in Renmore Barracks. The ‘Line’ is the path alongside the railway line on the causeway between the barracks and the station, and is seen in our photograph c1960.

Michael Moloney has been living and breathing Galway Racecourse for many years now. When he was knee high to a grasshopper, he used to cycle around the course, while his father John, looked after the running of the course. Fianna Fail councillor Vinny McCormack has called on the Minister for Health Simon Harris to intervene and ensure that an improved GP service is put in place at Ballymore Health Centre as a matter of urgency. Cllr McCormack has made the call having received confirmation this week that the current GP operating joint clinics in Ballymore and Ballymahon has resigned from the service.
