Farm tour to explore cooking and gardening in the Burren
Clare Farm Heritage Tours will present the fourth walk in its series of summer events on Harry Jeuken's farm on Sunday September 11. Harry Jeuken will show his own garden on the day, where most years he is able to successfully grow a wide variety of crops outdoors, and he will also explain prehistoric cooking practices with two fulachta fiadh on his land. The meeting point for this walk is Gortlecka Cross near Mullaghmore and refreshments will be available at the end of the tour.

Garden guru to visit Connacht Gold, Westport
Klaus Laitenberger will visit Connacht Gold DIY and Garden Centre on April 16 between 2pm and 4pm to discuss organic vegetable production with all those interested in this growing field. Mr Laitenberger has spent many years learning the craft of vegetable growing, experimenting with different plants and techniques, and passing on his knowledge to countless students of all ages. The last 10 years have been spent in Ireland, so he has managed the vagaries of boggy soils, high rainfall, the most common pests and diseases, and has distilled what he has learnt into his discussions and lectures.
