Courses for youth workers

Most of our lives are very busy and we often fail to experience and enjoy quietness. From a spiritual perspective constant activity and noise can block our awareness of God’s presence in our lives. The Family Centre, Chapel Street, Castlebar, is offering a one day course on learning meditative prayer techniques.

Courses to assist your child

Many children with ADHD have difficulty managing their lives. Parents of these children can benefit from knowing more about how they can provide their children with practical and useful support. Educational psychologist Stephanie Fitzgerald will talk with parents on how to develop practical interventions and strategies that might help their children.

Parent assertiveness

Many children are very confident these days. Encouraging your children to be confident is important but sometimes children can easily move from confidence into trying to exert control over parents. A six week course on parent assertiveness is being held by the Family Centre at Chapel Street, Castlebar. The course will look at ways in which parents can teach children to be respectful and follow direction without allowing themselves to be compromised. The course will examine how parents can be assertive, direct, and open without being aggressive. The course runs for one night a week for six weeks starting at 8pm on Tuesday October 13.

Writing and journalling towards greater wellbeing

A workshop in the Family Centre, Castlebar, which will take place on Monday evenings, commencing November 2, will allow you to express yourself through writing and journalling.

Bereavement support service

Coping with the death of somebody close to you if often really difficult. The Family Centre, Chapel Street, Castlebar, has a confidential skilled bereavement support service available to anybody who may wish to avail of it.

Reflections in Castlebar church

Reflections on Faith and Prayer is a series of short reflections that will be provided in the Castlebar Parish Church each evening between 5.10pm and 5.30pm starting on Monday November 9 and continuing daily until Friday November 13.
