Keeping our young people safe on the internet

Young people have a natural interest in using modern technologies such as internet and social networking sites like Facebook. These technologies can be very beneficial when used properly but there are some dangers too. This programme will highlight simple ways which will help to keep our children safe. The event will take place in the Mayo Education Centre, Westport Road, Castlebar on Tuesday September 27 from 7pm to 9pm. The event is free of charge. Simple relaxation and contentment for children and adults

This evening seminar will explore some simple techniques to create and maintain relaxation and contentment. It is open to children and adults. When adults practice relaxed living it is easily transferred and taught to children. Anam Cara Parent Bereavement Support, the voluntary group set up by parents who have suffered the loss of a child, is facilitating a series of bereavement talks taking place this autumn, at various locations around the country.

Make good use of autumn evenings

Every year the Family Centre in Chapel Street, Castlebar provide over 60 courses and seminars for the community. The courses are focused on a wide variety of topics. Some courses are light and enjoyable and encourage personal development while others are provided as a support to parents and families to help them cope with the ups and downs of family life. Still others provide support to those who are bereaved or for others who want to explore their faith in a deeper way. At a time when many people are under increased pressure this year there is a particular emphasis on helping people to relax and learn mindfulness which is a skill that can serve us all well, especially at times when we are under pressure.

Brí is the independent support and advocacy organisation for people who experience brain injury and their carers in Ireland.
