City neighbourhood turns on Christmas lights this Friday!

ARAN ISLAND singer-songwriter Padraig Jack is on tour this month and brings his intimate, soulful music, to The Crane Bar, Sea Road, on Friday November 24 at 8.30pm.

On Saturday, November 11, Galway will be filled with the sounds of Ireland’s iconic instrument, the harp. Celebrating the first National Harp Day, Galway members of the newly formed national organisation Cruit Éireann/Harp Ireland have organized three free events in Galway City Museum during the day, and an informal concert in the Crane Bar in the evening.

ACCLAIMED FIDDLE player Anna Falkenau and five-string banjo virtuoso Lena Ullman will launch their new album, I Can Hear You Calling, with a gig this weekend. The launch takes place upstairs in The Crane this Saturday at 6.30pm. Folk legend Andy Irvine has called the album “refreshingly stylistic and contemporary relevant". Admission is free. THIS SATURDAY marks the 30th anniversary of the death of the legendary Galway fiddle player and traditional Irish musician Mickey Finn. His passing will be marked in a weekend of memorial sessions at The Crane Bar, from Friday April 21 to Sunday 23, featuring Mickey’s widow, Lena Finn, as well as Sean Ryan, Jackie Small, and Mickey’s brother Johnny Finn.
