On Monday, Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring announced he has allocated €984,000 under the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Programme to develop phase one of the Clew Bay Trail in Mayo. The 15th Annual De Care Dental Claremorris 8k took place recently. It was also a target race in the 2016 Mayo AC Vodafone C&C Cellular Club League. The 8k race was over a newly measured one lap course starting at Claremorris track, and replaced the five mile route which was used previously and started in the town centre.

Mulranny improvement works opened

Michael Ring, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, and Cllr Michael Holmes, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, officially opened the new Mulranny footpath and village enhancement scheme last Friday morning. The multi-million euro development consisted of 1.8 kilometres of improvements to the N59 comprising new footpaths, traffic calming, pavements, a viewing promenade, bicycle lanes, pedestrian crossings, picnic tables, and benches.
