Finbar Hoban Presents...legendary Northern Ireland rockers Therapy? live at the Ruby Room at the TF Royal Hotel and Event Centre in Castlebar next Sunday October 27 in what promises to be one of the biggest rock shows in Castlebar this year. Therapy? have played with some of the greatest rock bands in the world that include Metallica, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. Support on the night comes from Lafaro and local band Pilgrimage.

The Coyne family name is synonymous with the tyre industry in Ireland. For four generations the Coyne family have been serving their customers. The Coyne family first started in the tyre business in Kilkelly in 1947 when John Coyne opened his garage. His son Pat Coyne Snr went on from there to work for Fit Kilkenny Remould as a representative on the road selling tyres to the same garages.

After the results comes the waiting game for Leaving Cert students

The waiting game is now being played by the 1,619 students in Mayo who got their Leaving Cert results on Wednesday, as they wait until Monday morning for the first round offers from the CAO for college places. The gender breakdown of those who sat the Leaving Cert in the county saw 19 more males sitting the exams this year, with 801 females sitting the exams and 818 males. A total of 89 students in Mayo sat the Leaving Cert applied examination this year, where they were graded on their work over two years on a continuous basis. The gender breakdown for that stream in Mayo was 31 females and 58 males taking that education stream. Candidates who wish to view their examination scripts to see how the marking scheme was applied to their work have until next Tuesday, August 20, to get their completed application forms in. The forms are available through each candidate’s school. This is a free service available to all candidates. Candidate who wish to appeal their results have until Wednesday September 4 to do so.

Heston takes the chain as Castlebar’s second lady Mayor

On a historic night for Castlebar Town Council, when Cllr Noreen Heston became the final Mayor of the authority, there was not much room left to spare in the packed chamber of Marsh Haouse, as family and friends from Ballycroy to Castlebar and even London were packed in to the chamber and down the stairs in the building to see her accept the chain of office. Cllr Heston succeeded her Fine Gael party colleague Cllr Brendan Henaghan for the position, and became only the second woman to hold the honour in the town. Fittingly for the night that was in it, the first female mayor, Eanya Egan, was present in the chamber and she took a seat at the council table and was not afraid to throw a few barbs across the chamber at some of her former colleagues, during some of the light hearted moments of the evening.

After an online petition which consisted of fans setting up a Facebook page titled "Lets Get Therapy? to play live in Castlebar" the legendary band will now play The Ruby Room at the TF Royal Theatre in Castlebar on the Halloween Bank holiday weekend. Therapy? have played with some of the greatest bands in the world that include Metallica, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam.

The bright sunshine which lightened the hearts of everyone this week was matched with some exciting news for the Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar. The €11 million funding which was allocated to bring the facility up to HIQA standards, hopefully in time for the 2015 deadline, was greeted with genuine relief and happiness across the county.
