Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) are offering an intensive maths course this summer to secondary school students who do not obtain a pass in Leaving Certificate Mathematics.

Castlebar taxi driver before court for taxi regulation offences

The Commission for Taxi Regulation issued proceedings against a Castlebar taxi driver for three breaches against the taxi regulation act for failing to operate a taxi metre when in hire; failing to provide a receipt; and charging more than the maximum fare when in hire, which led to the driver appearing before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.

Mayo should have too much in the tank for Roscommon

Tomorrow (Saturday) in McHale Park in Castlebar at 5pm Mayo will be expected to account for Fergal O’Donnell’s Roscommon and qualify for the 2009 Connacht final on July 19. There was good news this week for Mayo’s two largest towns with Ballina and Castlebar maintaining their Clean to European Norms status. The Irish Business Against Litter league published its first results of 2009 which saw Ballina and Castlebar in 38th and 40th place respectively out of 60 towns surveyed.

GMIT to offer maths courses in Galway and Mayo

The Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology will once again offer an intensive enabling mathematics course later this summer to secondary school students who do not obtain a pass in Leaving Certificate mathematics.

Guided tour in Castlebar

A guided walking tour around the heart of Old Castlebar, conducted by Brían Hoban, local historian and Fáilte Ireland approved tour guide, will take place each Saturday morning during July and August.
