Oranmore Schools’ Creative Cluster — it takes a community!
Gaelscoil de hÍde, Scoil Íosaf Naofa, Maree NS and Calasanctius College, Oranmore have come together over the past two years to form a creative cluster. This cluster supports students of all ages to develop creative and critical thinking skills, learn to adapt and collaborate as well as to enjoy and explore artistic and creative expression – whether through traditional arts, STEM or other creative avenues. It has been an opportunity for local Oranmore schools to work together to develop creative projects and collaborate on new ideas based on their local experience and unique perspective.

Students of Calasanctius college are ‘Super Troupers’ taking on their latest musical production ‘Dancing Queen – A Tribute to Abba’ which goes on stage in their school hall from Wednesday Oct 25 to Friday October 27. ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Take a chance on me’ and great favourites like ‘SOS’ will entertain the audience for the three shows.
Playwrights of the future rewarded at All-Ireland Drama Festival awards ceremony
The 2023 Schools Playwright Competition, hosted in conjunction with the RTÉ All Ireland Drama Festival Fringe and sponsored by the Athlone Credit Union saw Transition Year students from twelve counties compete for the prestigious award, the winner, Cormac Reilly from Glenamaddy being announced at a ceremony in the Dean Crowe Theatre recently.
