Not a bad year’s work.

After a full round of group games last weekend the Cooper County Senir Hurling Championship is again in full swing this Saturday and Sunday, with the preliminary quarter-finals down for decision.

Carnmore made it three wins out of three in the Cooper Senior Hurling Championship on Sunday evening at Kenny Park when they defeated Liam Mellows 0-15 to 0-12.

Westmeath hurlers’ interest in this year’s championship came to an abrupt end in Casement Park last weekend when they suffered a nine point defeat to Antrim. Much of the damage was done in the opening half during which Brian Hanley’s men failed to show any of the flair which was evident against Galway. Dinny Cahill’s enjoyed a 10 point lead at the interval.

With the hurlers and footballers both drawn away to Antrim it is the hurlers who must first make the long journey north. The involvement of a number of dual players ruled out the possibility of a double header and their game throws in at 3pm on Saturday.
