Within the next few days O’Donnellan & Joyce will finalise its list for its September 28 property auction.

The O’Donnellan and Joyce auction was packed to capacity once again when the company placed 18 properties under the hammer last Friday. The majority of the properties were family homes in established locations throughout Galway city.

O’Donnellan & Joyce recorded seven sales when it placed nine properties under the hammer at last Friday’s auction. Colm O’Donnellan of auctioneers O’Donnellan & Joyce said they were delighted with the prices achieved and the tremendous response and bidding in the room. He said auctions are proving to be the best method of obtaining a sale on properties, and all the properties on offer had very realistic reserve prices, and the market decides the true value.

O’Donnellan & Joyce predicts that its first auction of 2012 will be busier than ever. Colm O’Donnellan has reported a sharp rise in enquiries on the auction process and he said it seems that auction is now the preferred method for a lot of people who are anxious for a fast sale. Of course it is all down to pricing and sellers have to be realistic on this or sufficient interest cannot be generated.

O’Donnellan & Joyce brought the curtain down on 2011 with a hugely successful auction where it placed 15 properties up for sale and disposed of 11 in the auction room, leaving the remaining four under active negotiation.

What has been described as a record for agricultural land in the last three years was achieved on Friday at a packed auction room in the Oranmore Lodge Hotel. The auction of c64.55 acres at Bushfield and Moneymore East, Oranmore, achieved a record price of more than €15,000 an acre.

O’Donnellan and Joyce recorded nine sales when it placed 11 properties up for sale by public auction. The auction room in the Victoria Hotel saw in the region of 250 people, standing room only, watch in awe as bidders chased the value at last Friday’s event.

There was no shortage of buyers at the O’Donnellan & Joyce monthly auction in the Victoria Hotel last Friday, where there were so many people in attendance in the enlarged auction room that they were spilling out onto the foyer of the hotel.

The Victoria Hotel was bursting at the seams as an unprecedented crowd arrived at the hotel all eager to witness the first O’Donnellan & Joyce auction of the season. The excitement was palpable among the crowd and at one stage there was a bit of an anxious moment when bidders were afraid their bids would be missed because the crowd was so large.
