The ninth edition of the annual spring Ballinrobe run bike run event was hailed as the best yet despite the cold wet conditions, a change to the first run meant all participants had 1.5k extra to cover, there were bigger gaps than normal between the bikers which made for a harder event.

There was good news in Ballinrobe last Friday when Mayo County Council granted planning permission for the rebuilding of Ballinrobe Town Hall. It is full steam ahead now for the project with a major focus on securing public, private, and community funding to make the hall a reality. The old hall was knocked in 1999 for safety reasons.

It's been a hectic month or so for new Mayo manager Stephen Rochford. The Crossmolina native who resides in Ballinrobe was appointed as the Mayo senior manager at the start of December and since then it's been all go for him. There was just one nominee for the vacant position Mayo GAA senior team manager. Nominations for the post closed on Sunday evening and the only nomination recieved was for Stephen Rochford. The Crossmolina native was nominated by his home club Crossmolina Deel Rovers and by Ballinrobe GAA clubs (Rochford lives in Ballinrobe). 

A crowd of more than 100 people turned up to the latest Connacht Property Auction held last Thursday in The Menlo Park Hotel. In total there were 22 properties offered for sale from across Connacht including Clare, Galway, Mayo, and Leitrim.
