Confirmation of the funding was received by Senator Camillus Glynn on Monday from Minister for Education and Science, Batt O’Keeffe. In a letter to Senator Glynn, Minister O'Keeffe thanked him for his representations on behalf of the school.

“Thank you for your ongoing representations on behalf of Colaiste Mhuire, Mullingar.

“The Building Unit of the Department will be in contact with the school authorities shortly in relation to the amount of funding approved,” reads the letter.

Welcoming the funding, Senator Glynn, himself a past pupil of Colaiste Mhuire, paid tribute to all the school continues to do for the young people of the area. “I want to record my deep appreciation to the school, for the tremendous service they have given to our young people over many, many years. Long may they continue to do so,” he said.

He also vowed that he would “continue to lobby on an ongoing basis to ensure that the optimum facilities and the funding for same are provided by the Department of Education and Science".
