Mullingar pharmacists cycle for Irish Cancer Society

Five Mullingar-based pharmacists recently cycled from Dublin to Galway on July 12-13, to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. To date they have raised over €10,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.

The symptoms of ovarian cancer can be very vague and they often appear at a late stage. It is important for pharmacists to be aware of these symptoms: bloated feeling; persistent swollen abdomen; trapped wind; pain or dragging sensation in your lower abdomen or side; vague indigestion or nausea; poor appetite and feeling full quickly; changes in your bowel or bladder habits, for example, constipation or needing to pass water urgently; or abnormal vaginal discharge or bleeding (rare ).

Organisers Robert and John Keane would like to thank everyone who took part and contributed to such a successful weekend, particularly the main sponsor TEVA Pharmaceuticals Ireland.
